Admission

Admission to the Graduate Program in Chemical Engineering is done through the selection process, held annually by the Program Collegiate for the Master’s and the PhD’s level. The necessary conditions and documentation are explained in the Notice below (portuguese only).

The foreign student must apply and pass the selection process before receiving the letter of acceptance with which the candidate may request a student visa.

It is recommended that foreign students should have intermediate ability in Portuguese, because the classes at PPGEQ are in portuguese, but UFMG does not demand proof of proficiency or submission of certificates.

The number of places in the Program varies according to the availability of professors for supervision. On average, the Program offers 22 annual places for the master’s degree and 17 annual places for the PhD’s degree. The selection process consists of an exam of specific knowledge (in portuguese) and analysis of the curriculum for the master’s degree and consists of an exam of specific knowledge (in portuguese), analysis of the curriculum and a project for the PhD’s degree.
